RF Microneedling in Pretoria East
Radiofrequency and microneedling together, rebuilding collagen in the deeper layers so the result keeps improving for months.

Of everything in the treatment room at Sandra's clinic in Die Wilgers, Pretoria East, this is the one that changes the structure of your skin rather than its surface. It brings together two things that work well alone and considerably better together: microneedling, which prompts the skin to repair itself, and radiofrequency energy, which warms the deeper layer so that repair arrives as new collagen.
Ask about it if your concern is firmness. A jawline that has softened, cheeks that have lost their scaffolding, crepey texture on the neck, or acne scarring that no cream has ever touched.
Suitability
What it treats
- Loss of firmness through the jaw, cheeks and neck
- Lines that stay visible when your face is completely at rest
- Open pores and uneven texture
- Acne scarring and other indented scarring
- Crepey skin and stretch marks away from the face
The science
How it works
Fine needles create controlled micro-channels in the skin. Radiofrequency energy is delivered through the tips of those needles into the dermis, the layer where collagen and elastin live. The skin reads both as a signal to rebuild, and rebuilding in the dermis means new structural tissue rather than a temporary surface improvement.
It is a slow mechanism, and that is the point. The result builds for months instead of fading in weeks. Needle depth is adjustable, so delicate skin around the eyes and thicker skin along the jaw can be treated properly in the same session.
Your appointment
What a session is like
A topical numbing cream goes on first and sits for around half an hour. The treatment itself runs thirty to forty-five minutes depending on the area. What you feel is warmth and pressure rather than anything sharp. Allow about ninety minutes in total for a first appointment.
How many sessions, and when you will see it
Three to six treatments spaced four to six weeks apart is the standard course, and the number depends on what is being corrected. Texture and brightness appear in the second week. Firmness is the slower one, generally noticeable from around week four and continuing to improve for three to six months as collagen matures. Most clients then come back once or twice a year to hold it.
Downtime, honestly
Expect to look as though you have caught the sun for a day, occasionally two. Skin feels tight and warm that evening. By day three most people are back to normal, with light flaking around day four or five as the surface renews. Makeup can go on after twenty-four hours. Book at least a week ahead of anything you will be photographed at.

Honest advice
Who it is not for
- Some histories change what can safely be done, and a few rule the treatment out. Raise it beforehand if you are pregnant, have a pacemaker or implanted electrical device, have taken oral acne medication in the past twelve months, get cold sores, take blood thinners or have a clotting disorder, scar badly or have had keloids, or have an active breakout in the area to be treated. None of these are automatic refusals, but Sandra needs to know before a needle goes near your skin.

Frequently asked questions
With numbing cream, most people describe it as warm and slightly prickly rather than painful. The forehead and neck are the more sensitive areas.
The next day, if you do not mind looking a little flushed. By day two most people are comfortable without makeup.
It is widely used on deeper skin tones, and because it works with needles and heat rather than light it is generally considered lower risk for pigmentation change than ablative laser. Pigmentation change is still possible, which is why your skin and your history are assessed properly before anything is booked.
The collagen you build is your own, so the improvement holds until your skin ages past it, generally a year or more. A maintenance session keeps it there.
Yes, although not on the same day. Many clients alternate microneedling with Hydradermie facials, so the skin is being rebuilt and looked after at the same time.
A course is priced as a course, and the figure depends on which areas are treated and how many sessions your skin needs. You will be given the full amount at the consultation, before you commit to the first session.
